Going Viral
The book is only half written, so it’s really too early for me to go on social media to talk about it. I came out early all because of CoVid-19. I went (sort of) viral because of a virus, how ironic.
In February, 2020, the talk about Coronavirus was ramping up. So of course my favorite Chinese radio station in Toronto chimed in as well. The anchor, Anson Wong, conveyed some mis-information about hand washing, so I called in to the live show, to give the scientific side of things. Because I’ve been reading skin health books and articles, I was fluent, convincing, and funny (I must say). Anson kept me on the phone for the whole call-in period. I had a blast!
The next morning, my friends in HK, Vancouver, Australia, Singapore, Toronto, Waterloo, and China bombarded my inbox with the exact call-in clip, telling me that it was shared widely in the Chinese community all over the world. When they listened to the clip, they were surprised it was me. The next day Anson called me, and said their listeners liked my way! They interviewed me 2 more times, and wanted to produce a regular video/audio show with me, on skin, and all things healthy. Oh my goodness!
So we filmed 3 episodes (Handwashing; Don’t let Germs Grow in you -English & Chinese; Skin Care Products NOT Caring for your Skin) in early March. Even though it was premature to start social media, I had to ride this unexpected publicity wave, to get the proper skin health and general health message out, far and wide. Help me!
